It's because all pakistanis i know took about 5 a levels so i'm kinda still shocked so i wanted to know if u did the same.. :S

Why is the tangent angle 71.6, the gradient was negative 3 so the angle was obtuse as in 180-71.6.........no?

That gradient makes 2 angles with its interception with the x-axis..the acute one and the obtuse one..since the question didn't clearly say calculate the acute/obtuse angle that this tangent makes with the x-axis, therefore both answers are correct ! because it makes with the x-axis angle 71.6 and 180-71.6

Both answers are correct but if u will notice the previous ms they prefer acute angles.

i personaly think someone shud lock this topic
its gettin out of hand and this seriously can affect the way u perform in later exams

The inverse function answer:
rewrite as

y = (x+3) / (2x+1)

solve for x

y (2x+1) = (x+3)
2xy + y = x + 3
2xy - x = 3 - y
x (2y-1) = 3 - y
x = (3-y) / (2y-1)

then "swap" x and y

y = (3-x) / (2x-1)

Should be correct.
