Hey, fellow nervous talker! My orals are on Wednesday. Freaking the hell out over here. Wish you luck. Here are some tips:
  • Don't stammer.
  • Don't fake a British accent.
  • Don't make up dates for historic events. But, you're allowed to make up stories related to you that are believeable. For example: Examiner says: How's your day? You say: My day was awful. I got hit by a truck while riding a three-headed dinosaur..." Your stories must therefore be realistic not fanstasy and whatnot.
  • If you need time to think, simple cough and say "Excuse me."
  • Stay to the topic. Don't be afraid to say your opinion. They're testing your speaking skills not your general knowledge.
  • Control your voice and tone and crying (it happens often).
