AoA guys.
Which calculators are allowed to be used in the maths P2 CIE?
I've read the guidelines on:
http://ask.cie.org.uk/system/selfse...USERTYPE=1&CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=311589
But these don't specify model numbers.
I know that any calculator (as long as its not graphical) can be taken into the examination room and the person can write the model number of another calculator that IS actually allowed without the invigilators actually knowing; but I'm not comfortable with this because its dishonesty.
Please tell me if the following are allowed or not:
Casio 82MS
Casio 991ES
Please mention the source of your answer as well.
Thanks! :)

Thank you for your reply.
But:
1. That was your ad-maths CIE. I'm talking about O levels(CIE), Mathematics 'D'
2. The guidelines say the following are not allowed:
  • graphic display
  • data banks
  • dictionaries or language translators
  • retrieval or manipulation of text or formulae
  • QWERTY keyboards
  • built-in symbolic algebraic manipulations
  • symbolic differentiation or integration
  • capability of remote communication with other machines.
And I think 991es does have the following functions:
retrieval or manipulation of text or formulae
built-in symbolic algebraic manipulations
symbolic differentiation or integration

Which is not allowed.

Actually the biggest problem is that our question papers, on which we write the calc's model number, are now going to the examiners. Before the question papers were returned to the centre.

Suppose your calculator suddenly stops working during the exam. Or goes haywire or it's battery dies, will you be helped or forced to give the exam without the calculator. I've been really scared of this for some time. :-/
