a retailer is an intermediary distributor, who buys goods in small quantities from a wholesaler and sells it in yet a smaller quantity to the final consumer. For example, the small grocer in every neighborhood who buys a nominal amount of goods from the wholesaler and sells them to the people in the neighborhood in very small quantities.

a manufacturer is the enterprise that brings together the factors of production and carries out production to satisfy human needs and wants. For example, an industry that manufactures shoes and sells off to wholesalers.

the wholesaler is also an intermediary distributor, who buys in bulk from various manufacturers and sells in smaller quantities to retailers. he is responsible for breaking bulk. for example, a cash and carry outlet where retailers can buy a comparatively smaller quantity of goods is a wholesaler.

regional specialization is when one region of the country devotes itself for producing a certain type of products, that are used by the whole country. for example, usually the coastal areas of a country specialize in providing sea food to the rest of the country.
