I don't have some notes but i will try to explain you in my words.
Capacitor:
It is used to store electrical charges. Can be charged only by Direct current. It has two plates in betweens which act as an insulator. Capacitance is measured in Farad. (not included in the course i guess).
Transistor:
It is a semi conductor device which acts as a gate in any circuit. It only turns on when voltage more than 0.7V is passed through it. A resistor is placed before a transistor to prevent high current to flow through it which can destroy it.
