A small satellite has a weight of 1200 N at the Earth's surface. It is launched in to a circular orbit with radius equal to twice the radius of the earth. The weight of the satellite in this orbit is:
A- 0 N
B- 300 N
C- 600 N
D- 1200 N

so can someone explain this with the correct answer please?

Answer is B..80% sure. We have to apply newtons law of gravitation. F= GM1/r^2 ...the radius is squared so double radius of the earth squared..2^2=4 ..so the weight ie. the force decreases by a factor of 4 .1200/4..=300 ..got it?
