syed1995 i need to know where in normal distribution, do we have to do 1-ans :(
In normal distribution you should have
i) Z < *****

where ***** is POSITIVE number and sign between Z and Number is of smaller than. If its not, then we will subtract answer from 1.

This means that your final answer must be the given value instead of the calculation given . There is not 1 other way u could possibly solve this question
ohk yeah point, i spent like an hour trying to do it the other way :p thanks!

Question 6, (i), in the markscheme, why did they take z as -1.282?
shouldn't we take the value for 0.1 as it says 10% ?
Z=X-Mean/Standard deviation
P(X<20)=0.1
we will take 0.9(since 0.1 isnt in the table)
and take it negative
so Z=-1.281
therefore: -1.281=20-mean/√0.8
mean=21
PS:i memorize the negative stuff by checking the sides of the inequality
for e.g P(X<20)=0.1
since 0.1 is less than 0.5 ,we are gonna give it the less than sign which is <,and so is the P(X<20)
so whenever they are same,its gonna be negative,opposite means Z will be positive
< < =negative (this Q)
> >=negative (P(X>20)=0.7)
< >=Positive (P(X<20)=0.7)
> <=positive (P(X>20)=0.4)
but then again,if you can memorize/understand the manual method,thats better

Hey guys take a closer look it says B1 9!/2!2!
And B means = Mark for a correct result or statement independent of method marks. ;)
