what is the possible way to find that the stationery point of the cubic curve lies on x axis?Equation of the curve is given.

Bimal....it is just like as you did with quadratic curve
1) find dy/dx
2) put dy/dx=0 and you'll get 2 values for x
3) then put these values (one by one) and find the corresponding value for y
4) you now have two stationary points

thats not gud enough to get full marks......
after putting values of x in the given equation of y if u get the value y=0 then it is likely to say that ur stationary pts. lie on the x-axis!!!!!

You can also factorize the cubic function into one linear and one quadratic function and then solve for the roots ;)

By the way next time kindly post your question with more information such as the function.
