For November 09 , 51, Q4 (ii)

So you found the force to be 2 N in the first part right?
now you use F = ma.
so 2cos(theta) = 0.12 x (v^2/ r) (cuz a = v^2/r)

therefore, 2 x (0.4/0.5) = 0.12 x (v^2/ 0.4)

v = 2.31 ms^-1

the radius is 0.4 because a triangle is formed with 0.5 as the hypotenuse.

November 10 . 53 , Q4(ii)

Friction force acts in direction of of the force at B BUT it is parallel to the plane (because friction is between the rod and the plane)

so, resolve parallel to the plane.

Fcos30 + Friction = 15cos60

June 09 Q2
First find AG by the hyp theorem AG=10.68
then take moments about A 12 x 10.68 = T x 20
and get T :)

For question 6 (ii)
you need to find two EPE
EPE1 = 0.5 x (4/0.25) x (0.75)^2 EPE2 = 0.5 x (8/0.25) x (o.75)^2
EPE1 = 4.5 EPE2 = 9
Add them and you should get 13.5J
