V of small cone = 1/3 * pi * 1^2 * 1 =1pi/3 cm^3
V of frustum = v cone - v small cone =333pi = 1046 cm^3

rate of sand flow = 1046/180 = 523/90 cm^3 per second
area of flow = pi * 1^2 = pi cm^2 per second
thus x cm per second = 523/90 divided by pi
x = 1.849 = 1.85 cm/s
thus x = 1.85
