Write about Muslim belief in Allahs Predestination and Decree
-God is powerful over everything
-He knows everything that happens
-He has planned all that happens to people
-Nevertheless, people have responsibility for what they do.
"No thing but supplication can avert the decree"
Thats all you need to know about the chap, since only a 4 mark qs can come from here.

You will start off by writing how Allah is Almighty and has created everything. Therefore, He has power and control over everything in the universe. Supporting quotation from the Quran: "He has created everything and determined its predestination." Then u will say that because of this Muslims believe that He has ordained everything and everything happens according to His will.
Then you will write about predestination itself by first stating that Allah knows what is happening presently, and is aware of every one's motives, desires and intentions. He has already recorded all that has happened, is happening and will happen. Supporting quotation from Quran: "He knows what is before them and what is behind them." Whatever Allah wills to happen occurs and whatever he does not will to happen, does not happen. Quotation from Quran: "Allah does as He wills."
Lastly, you will say that even though Muslims firmly believe in his divine decree, they must take responsibilty for their actions. Allah has decided our fate for us, nevertheless He has given us the free will to make our own choices. Thus, there is a fine balance between Allah's omnipotence and human responsibilty. You can give a reference here by saying that once a companion asked the Prophet about leaving everything on predestination to which the Prophet replied: 'No, but work hard.'

So these will be the 3 parts in which you will answer the 10 mark question on predestination and decree. 1.power and control 2.what predestination entails 3.paradox of predestination and human responsibility
This answer is in accordance with the marking scheme of CIE...hope it helps! :)
