Hello friends,

In O level Chemistry June 2014 P1 Q16 is:
Which substance does not react with hydrochloric acid?

The answer in the marking scheme is D. Can any one please tell me how. What I know is that option D does react with HCl, a double displacement reaction.
Pls help.

Okay So I'm confused about one thing. Why doesn't Zinc Nitrate react with HCl to produce Zinc Chloride and Nitric Acid ??
You stated that Metals react with acids, but Zinc Nitrate itself is not a metal. It's a Nitrate......

Full detail
nitrate groups are more reactive
then the chloride groups
so,,,,, as zinc is more reactive than
hydrogen all other chemicals will displace the
H fro HCL only the nitrate group won'T aloow
it to displaceit!
so,,,,, no reaction would occur in D
clear?
Or You wanna more details. :)
