a)i) to make sure all the hydrocarbon is burned
ii)CO2 is acidic in nature
iii)20cm^3
90cm^3
60cm^3
iv)no. of moles of hydrocarbon used is 0.02/24=0.0008333333333
no. of moles of O2 used is 0.09/24=0.00375
no. of moles of Co2 used is 0.06/24=0.0025
if 1 mole of hydrocarbon was used:
1CxHy+4.5O2------>3CO2+ 3H2O
so x=3, y=6
b)i) sorry but I can't draw it and show you.
ii)light
iii)Cracking is a process in which large hydrocarbons are broken down into smaller, more useful hydrocarbons at high temperatures using a catalyst. Ex: Petroleum----->alkane+alkene. the alkenes produced can be used to make alcohols.

thnx but for (iv) u didnt need to do all these steps ..they are all gasses so the ratio is direct without converting to moles as for X and Y look at the number of carbon on the right ..according to the ratio its 3...as for H2O use the number of oxygen ..there are 9 on the left (4.5*2=9) so the right side must have 9 oxygen atomes too thus ratio of water is 3 :D

if you dont understand how i solved it stick with your method it's frustrating to change your way of solving problems right before the exam
