A feather is dropped on the moon from a height of 1.40 meters. The acceleration of gravity on the moon is 1.67 m/s2. Determine the time for the feather to fall to the surface of the moon.

Use the formula s = ut + 1/2 at^2 ( in words: distance equals speed into time, plus half into acceleration into time squared) :p

find u and v, then automatically use t = d / t.

i am not sure but it would be height into moon's gravity cuz height is showing distance and speed is shown by mooon's gravity

VelaneDeBeaute 's Original formula s = ut + 1/2 at^2 ( d = vi*t + 0.5*a*t2 ) further solved :

d = vi*t + 0.5*a*t2
-1.40 m = (0 m/s)*(t)+ 0.5*(-1.67 m/s2)*(t)2
-1.40 m = 0+ (-0.835 m/s2)*(t)2
(-1.40 m)/(-0.835 m/s2) = t2
1.68 s2 = t2
t = 1.29 s

Hence 1.29 ~ 1.3 seconds is the answer :)

use: v^2=u^2+2as
where u=0, a=1.67, s=1.40
you will get v=2.16m/s
then use s=u+v/2*t
ans t=1.3 correct to 3 signfig
Note: After finding "v" DO not use s=d/t formula you were be likely to get wrong answer
