Physics paper 1 question

I'm quite confused with question 33 from summer 2012 variant 2 ( http://papers.xtremepapers.com/CIE/Cambridge%20IGCSE/Physics%20(0625)/0625_s12_qp_12.pdf ) Can anyone explain how it's 8.0 V and not 12V?

i i agree, 32 was pretty simple. I hope to lose atleast 10-15 marks cuz i made some really silly mistakes that i could have avoided.
