I still don't understand the threshold fully. How come they say the total marks are 200 when it's clearly 160 if you're taking Papers 1,3 and 6? Can someone please explain this to me?

They probably include the practicals (paper 5). But you just did Paper 3, Paper 1 and Paper 6 it's 160 in total.

Thanks, but for one year I found that the threshold was 156/160? Can it actually be that high?

Which year was this?

I forget now. I'll let you know ASAP. And even for Paper 5 (practical) the maximum marks are 40 which still gives a grand total of 160 marks. Do you think they multiply our marks/total by a factor so that it equals 200?

No, I don't think so. But normally the A* threshold ranges between 145-160.

I heard that they multiply each paper by 1.25 and then add them all ,
as (80*1.25)+(40*1.25)+(40*1.25)=200
it make sense but am not sure about it.

So the thresholds that they always give are out of 200?

i think they multiply or else in the ms they would give the total of 4 papers rather than 3

Yes they always convert them thats why for physics 83% for A* which is around 166/200.
