Hey guys i have chemistry exam Wednesday [23rd May, 2012]

Chemistry problem:In 0620/31/ON/08 Question 6 b (ii), I cannot get why there is no reaction when KOH decompose in heat? And why KNO3 - / > KO + NO2 + O2 (which is normal decomposition of nitrates)? Why KNO3 - > KNO2 + O2.

potassium and sodium hydroxides decompose in a different way than other hydroxides

Methane is natural gas, propane is propagas and butane is calor gas. As the percentage of carbon in the molecule increases, how does it affect the sootines of their flames??
