Appearing as normal and private candidate in M/J 2012

Hey! Is not longer allowed to appear with school and privately? My school isn't letting me give Economics with them (which I opted in A2). Is it true? :|

According to my school, if a candidate is registered for Cambridge Exams from the school, he/she cannot appear privately for any subject in the same session.
