Physics, Chemistry and Biology: Post your doubts here!

Could someone please explain the process of drying gas to me? I read that when collecting a gas using downward delivery, the gas is dried through concentrated sulphuric acid. How and why?

Oh, alright. Thanks. :D And if it's not too much trouble, could you explain question 9 from the same paper? The one about the train.

Thanks. I understood up until the part where you find the period, but beyond that, I don't see how you got 0.01, and thus 10mscm^-1. Could you please elaborate on the last point? Sorry for being a bother. :P

So let's say they left it for another generation, would we get two bands that are equally as thick? Btw, your explanation helped me a lot. I never understood this before. Thanks. :)

AS Biology P1 MCQs Preparation Thread

Has anyone done Oct/Nov 2007? If so, please turn your attention to question 2. It asks about where digestive enzymes are made (which I know from reading the course that are released from lysosomes). However, in the marking scheme, it shows the answer to be the rough ER. Why? Are they...

    Chem P2 any guesses ?????

My guess is that there will be a question on enthalpy, Kc, and some Inorganic, as these were largely missing in the MCQ section. I'm talking about paper 22, btw.

Thank you guys for the help, I understood some stuff that I've had trouble with all year. It's funny how you start understanding things better when the exam is nearby. :P

    Chemistry: Post your doubts here!

Oh yeah, and, can someone briefly explain bond angles to me? Or link me to somewhere that explains it? I get the main idea, that the more lone pairs there are, the more repulsion there is, but in which case is it 104.5 or 109? How can I tell what the bond angles in a compound would be? Like...

    Chemistry: Post your doubts here!

Okay, this is pretty simple, but it's not stated clearly in my book, so I'll ask here. Can someone please name the kinds of intermolecular forces in order of strength? I know that Hydrogen bonds are strong, and Van der Waals are weak, but just need confirmation. Also, are dipole-dipole forces...

    How was physics paper 33

Well, in my lab they switched off fans and A/Cs anyway, but in general I think it's not a valid point, because I was looking through some marking schemes and they stated that they don't award credit to that point. Our teacher told us to simply say "Perform experiment in partial vacuum."
