Let f(x) = cosec x - 1/2 x - 1 f(0.5) = (1/sin 0.5 ) - 0.5(0.5) -1 =0.836 f(1) = (1/sin 1 ) - 0.5(1) -1 = -0.311 Since there is a sign change, a root lies between 0.5 and 1
