i Dont Know hw to use them
IF Func and Vlookup nd Hlookup

M

COUNT- it is used to count the total number of cells present.....like if we have numbers or text written in cell A2 to A6 than we will write the formula =COUNT(A2:A6) so the result will be 5
M

u told me to tell u frm basic so im doing tht....should i leave all this n just explain if...vlookup..n hlookup?
A
aries123
yaa thats the main part
M
mistique_bee
ofc..bt these formulas r also imprtnt..just dnt leave them...
so frst if function... The IF function is logical functions that evaluates a certain condition and returns the value you specify if the condition is TRUE, and another value if the condition is FALSE.
n its syntax is
IF(logical_test, [value_if_true], [value_if_false])
now this all seems so complex ryt..so i'll explain u in simple wrds...

OKKK
M
mistique_bee
this should be applied when u have to test for a specific condition..whether its true or false....
in logical test part of the syntax..u r supposed to write a value tht has to be evaluated...n in true part of the synatax u have to wryt the value if u want ur answer to be true....n in false the value which u want ur answer to be wrong..these r mentioned in the question..they r givin as ranges
M
mistique_bee
nw i'll give u an example ...
let's say you asked to assign either "Pass" or "Fail" to students based on a test score. In that case, you need to test the score itself (for each student) and then return either "Pass" or "Fail".....
so..for tht assume the score is given in cell c6....n u have to test tht this score given is atleast 70...so this thing will be written as C6>=70
M
mistique_bee
now to fit this into if function ...the value given up will be either true or false depending on the score in c6...
so when u will put this all up together..u will write..
=IF(C6>=70, "Pass", "Fail") it is imprtnt to use these double quotes n give spaces....
M
mistique_bee
n now..if the value in C6 is greater than or equal to 70 than its true...n if its less thn 70..thn its false
M
mistique_bee
now hlookup...The HLOOKUP function searches a table within the data HORIZONTALLY for a specific value and then returns a corresponding value ..
