Shingeki no kyojin was awesome.
Recent favourites would be Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu and Psycho Pass.
All time favourite would be CG season 2, Steins; Gate, FMA brotherhood and death note.

Ryuk was badass throughout the anime. But the series was really bad after L dies. I hate N and Mellow. -.-
I think he's the mastermind criminal in the case in which L and Naomi Misora work together. Dunno much about that case though.

well but since both were(not sure) L's students , they might have a dream of surpassing L , but I agree with you L was more awesome then any one else, also i've to say Light's tricks and his ways of escaping L's tricks were awesome! but L suspected him till the end!
