HELP! BIOLOGY A LEVEL EDEXCEL SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE

You get the article released early so you can read through it and try to prepare for any of the exam questions you might get asked in the exam. You will get a fresh copy with the exam paper. Check the thread that was mentioned in the post above - there are some possible questions there and...

Edexcel IAL A2 Biology JUNE 2015 Pre realeased Material- SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE

This comes from Stafford Valentine, who makes these versions of the article. He has his own website (http://staffordeducationalservices.com/).

    EDEXCEL A2 BIOLOGY UNIT 6B

Yes, it's a bit weird. I think the safest things seem to be to look at the variability of the raw data - is it really spread out (high SD)? If so then the experiment is fairly unreliable and any conclusions are a bit shaky. Especially if the means/medians are very close. Sample size should...

    EDEXCEL A2 BIOLOGY UNIT 6B

Percentage cover is usually the easiest to work with, if you are using quadrats with plants.

    EDEXCEL A2 BIOLOGY UNIT 6B

No, nothing specific. They can ask you about any type of experiment, so as long as you have a good grasp of the experiment design principles (variables etc), then that's as best as you can do. You will need to know all the core practicals from AS and A2 though, for Q1 from Unit 6B. Other than...

    EDEXCEL A2 BIOLOGY UNIT 6B

When you are looking to see of there is a correlation between two variables - except when you plot the results you find that they don't give you a line, but are just scattered everywhere (i.e. there is no real correlation) - don't even try to join the points up!!!:)

Edexcel IAL A2 Biology JUNE 2015 Pre realeased Material- SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE

There is another thread where we have been talking about a lot of the Unit 6 stuff (https://www.xtremepapers.com/community/threads/biology-edexcel-unit-6.37025/). Have a look there - I think we covered most things. No, I don't just do predictions - too risky!!!

    Biology edexcel unit 6

Hi, If you look back up to post#23 on this page, someone else asked about that question - I wrote down an answer and then looked at the mark scheme. Because it was a field experiment (where you can't control the light!), they mentioned it could be variables that you would monitor instead. Have a...

Sorry - getting all my replies mixed up here. See post# 16 for preliminary work.

    Biology edexcel unit 6

It's not very likely you'll be given the SD from the results in the question. If the graph part talks about "showing the variability of the results" or something similar, you can just plot the mean and then range bars (highest and lowest raw results). You can't really control outside light...

    Biology edexcel unit 6

Hi, I think I put something about preliminary work in a post on the previous page - if you can't find it or it isn't clear, let me know.

    Biology edexcel unit 6

I don't know about a model answer, but I have written my answer . Quite a tricky question, this one, as you can't control a lot of the usual variables . I have added in the mark scheme as well. Please let me know if it isn't clear.

    Biology edexcel unit 6

I don't really have any more for Unit 6 - I put a file on here somewhere (one of the other Unit 6 threads?) about a summary of the stats tests. Q1 - just make sure you really know your core practicals - especially what are the key variables (independent, dependent and control) and also what are...
