What is with A2 AICT

why is the syllabus and textbook so different to what they teach?

Im learning from the new edition one from Brian Sargent and graham brown

Is there any chance im just missing some resources?

Dude You are lucky to be giving A2 wit old syllabus.What do you mean?There are TONS thousands of resource on the old syllabus.

That's the book which is being used mostly for AICT A2. Its all about practice. Just keep on practicing.
