Hey

Wanted to confirm a couple of Questions for Biology 5090 (Theory and MCQ)
1.In Q2 of theory was the ghost plant wind or insect pollinated?
2.In Q3 of theory why does exhaled air contains water?
3.In Q2, of theory, Why didnt the ghost plant need Stomata and intercellular spaces.
4.In Q2 of Theory, Which 3 nutrients pass from the tree into the ghost plant?
5.In Q2 of theory, what was the procducer?
6.Effect of adrenaline on Liver cells? (Q4)
7.Why did the faeces contain 0.10dm of water while the intake through the mouth was 2.25dm?
8.What passed from the liver cell into the blood capillaries?

Thanks in advance

I thought that rule only applied to paper discussion before the paper? Can you Pm me the answer?

Btw, did you attempt question 9 ? And what did you wrote about STATE IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN URINE

1.I wrote insect pollinated because large petals.
(just for logic-it did not have feathery stigma and the petals were covering anther)
2.Goblet cells secret mucus which makes the air saturate

3.
  • It did not have chloroplast so no photosynthesis
  • Stomata and intercellular spaces. is for gaseous exchange
  • The plant do not need to take Co2 from atmosphere for photosynthesis
  • and release O2
  • It takes nutrients from nearby tree, does not make its own food
  • Water do not need to be carried to leaf cells for photosynthesis
4. I wrote,
  1. Water
  2. Sugar
  3. Mineral salts like nitrate ions

5. Nearby tree
6. Glycogen in liver converted to glucose and released into bloodstream

7. Faeces mostly made up of undigested materials like fibres. Most of water absorbed in colon. Water required in body for many functions like it acts as solvent medium, etc

8. i)CO2 ii)Bile iii)Urea . Other possible answers maybe Glucose

3-no chloroplast
no photosynthesis
No gaseous exchange
No transpiration- already absorbed less water-( roots were less deep)
Intracellular spaces not large bcoz only respiration is occuring
We had to mention abt the size of intercellular spaces tooo.......

Exhaled air saturated bcoz water released from respiration

Water in urine......excess is excreted+ no change in osmotic potential..

Nutrients taken in..sucrose..amino acids....ions

Ghost plant..insect pollination bcoz stamen no protruding out....stigma inside the flower

Correct me if I am Wrong , I wrote the following
1.Insect-As it did not have feathery stigma
2.I wrote that air passes through the moisture lining in the alevloi with humdifies the air(Is this wrong)
3.I wrote that plant doesn't undergo photosynthesis , thus need no gaseous exchange system,
4.I wrote , (Gluecose, Amino acid and Water)
5.Tree
6.Since it was a 2 mark question , i wrote 2 answers to it (1st was conversion of glycogen to glucose, 2nd increases the water potential of the liver cells)
7.Faeces pass through the large instine(Colon), where mainly water is absorbed , prevent excess water loss
8.Urea, Carbon Dioxide , and salts (Is this correct)
9.Alles were "aa"
10.Gametes included "a" and "A"
11.Forgot what i wrote
12.I just simply copied 1 male gamete and slight changed it
13.I wrote about enzymes (Denatured)
14.I wtote that bubles would be less as enzymes would be denatured

Yes , I did the Q9 (HIV and Sypilis)

For the importance of water i wrote ,
1.Help Regulate the water concentration of the blood
2.Dilutes the urine

about discussion, it was written in the BAN thread. Its sticky, u can read it.

What i wrote is
1. Self pollination because closed flowers
2. Blood contains water, diffusion in alveoli so saturated water vapors
3. No photosynthesis needed, already spiky leaves to reduce transpiration, might have enough lenticels so stomata not needed. Obtains food from tree, no photo, no gas exchange
4. Sucrose, water, amino acids
5. Tree
6. Glycogen to glucose
7. Fibre, retains some water, water absorbed in colon so less left in feaces, water loss thrpugh other ways like urination so less if left for feaces
8. Co2, urea, h20
9. a
10. A, a
11. Have recessive allels so cross among them, recessive allele in homozygous so cause diseases
12. I just drew the small chromosome with 2 white alleles of male
13. Denaturation of enzymes, explaination
14. Zero bubbles, all enzymes already denatured

I might be wrong in many answers cuz my answers didnt match those of yours and of my CLass fellows
just pray we all get a star :)

9.aa
10. Aa
11. I wrote about the chances of their child(ren) to have homozygous recessive allele SINCE they may have inherited mutated gene from same grandfather or older generations, thus leading to the express of phenotype due to mutated allele when homozy. recessive.

12. I drew the 2nd allele combination of Male [ 1 square shape and a kite shape below it]
13. Enzymes denatured, active site change- At extreme high temp no enzyme-substrate complex
14, No bubbles produced because enzyme already denatured and no enzyme-substrate complex, no respiration occurs no bubbles

What did you write about syphilis cause and symptom ?
I wrote :
  • Caused by bacterium
  • Sexually transmitted during intercouse
  • Body fluids coming in contact
  • first stage, sore on skin
  • Sore disappears if not treated
  • Rashes in second stage
  • Final stage, mental disorder
  • Different organs may be damaged
  • Person may even die

Oh Thanks, I thought i messed up the whole question about the yeast , but i was right =)
